This project was created as part of my book illustration course, where I was tasked with creating a double-page spread with text for a story of my choosing. I decided to take inspiration from the Russian fairy tale Vasilisa the Beautiful, which presented a unique challenge to bring to life through illustrations.

Through this project, I gained valuable skills in visual storytelling, layout design, and the effective use of text in conjunction with illustrations. I learned how to create a cohesive and engaging visual narrative that effectively communicates the story and engages the reader.

The process of researching and interpreting the story for visual representation was both challenging and rewarding. I honed my creative thinking skills, experimenting with different composition techniques and color palettes to create a unique and visually appealing double-page spread. I also learned the importance of considering the flow of the story and how to use visual elements to guide the reader through the narrative.
